Baritone Guitar Tuning

Tunings

Danelectro Baritone Guitar

String Gauges

Tuned 1/5th below standard guitar tuning.
Starting low to high,

 (B-E-A-D-F#-B)

Low End
B
- .056
E - .046
A - .036
D - .024
F# - .017
B - .013
High End

Alternate Tunings:

A tuning (low to high, A-D-G-B-E-A).
This is a little lower tuning.
You would probably like a little heavier strings if you use this tuning.
You'll get a rubber band feel and sound with light gauge strings.

Note: The standard guitar is tuned five semitones higher than the baritone, but the relative tuning of the strings remains the same.  That is, if you put a clamp (capo) on the fifth fret of the baritone, the tuning would be E A D G B E.  Here's a table to help you remember how to change chord positions:

Standard
Guitar

A A# B C C# D D# E F F# G G#

Baritone
Guitar

E F F# G G# A A# B C C# D D#

So if you fingered what would be a standard guitar F chord on a baritone guitar, it would in fact be a C chord. See above.
